Women in Turkey

Here we are with the second post of 2016 about women in Turkey, written by our trainee. We hope you enjoy reading!

The issue of child brides is quite a serious problem in Turkey. It was stated in a conference organized in Izmir at the end of the year that in one-third of marriages, “brides” are actually children according to the official statistics. It is emphasized that this rate may increase, as unofficial marriages were not taken into account. Child brides are not only a problem of Turkey, but also of some other countries as well, such as India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.  It is something all the people in the society should work on in order to prevent it.  These “lost” children should be gained to the society.

Say “Stop!” to this violation of child rights and abuse of children.  

It is the only way to protect them.

And their future.
