VII MEDITERRANEAN WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS FORUM

Last 27th of November 2015 the Casa Llotja de Mar (Barcelona) hosted the 7th edition of the Mediterranean Women Entrepreneurs Forum.

The Forum was organized by AFAEMME in collaboration with the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation and the Association of Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce (ASCAME) in the framework of the VIII Mediterranean Week of Economic Leaders, a major economic event in the Mediterranean and a unique platform for the exchange of experiences and debates.

This Forum's edition which gathered at about 200 participants from all over the Mediterranean region, included some very interesting debates about the relation between economic development and growth and women’s participation in the economy; smart working and the use of ICTs in business; rural women entrepreneurship; and the major needs of businesswomen and women entrepreneurs in different Mediterranean countries.

The high level speakers -such as Mr. Miquel Valls, President of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce; Ms. Delphine Borione, Deputy SG of the Union for the Mediterranean; Ms. Najoua Attia, President of the Commission of Women Entrepreneurs of ASCAME; Ms. Rosanna Quagliariello, Representative of the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute CIHEAM; Ms. Clara Gruitrooy, Managing Director of the Euro-Mediterranean-Arab Association; Mr. Josep M. Piqué, President of the Catalan Network of Science and Technology Parks; Ms. Irene Compte, Senior Consultant at Anteverti; and several President and representatives of important Mediterranean businesswomen associations- and the very interested Forum participants generated a very enriching debate which we are looking forward to gather in the Conclusions of the VII Mediterranean Women Entrepreneurs Forum (to be published soon).

We also want to thank the Forum participants and speakers for their generous contribution to our project through the solidarity jewelry sale during the Forum. We have raised 500.- EUROS to be used to support the professional development of young women from the Mediterranean region who will have the chance to collaborate for a fixed time with AFAEMME in its Barcelona premises, while receiving individual mentoring by one of the Association’s mentors. We will publish more information about this project at http://www.afaemme.org/projects/ongoing/supporting-young-womens-professi....
