Winners of the Women and Public Life Awards

Last September Dods and Scottish Widows held the Women in Public Life Awards to celebrate women leaders in society and seek to recognize and promote the work of women in politics, business, the civil society and community leadership. The Awards which are now in their fourth year, aim to highlight the achievements of outstanding women role models amongst us.

  • Businesswoman of the Year: Ruby McGregor-Smith, Chief Executive, MITIE Group PLC
  • Devolved Parliament or Assembly Member of the Year: Margo Macdonald, Independent MSP for Lothians
  • Journalist of the Year: Laura Kuenssberg, Political Correspondent, BBC
  • Local Government Personality of the Year: Jacqui Kennedy OBE, Director of Regulatory Services, Birmingham City Council
  • MP of the Year: Annette Brooke, MP (Lib Dem) Mid Dorset and North Poole
  • Peer of the Year: Baroness Stern CBE
  • Public Affairs Achiever of the Year: Chrissie Maher OBE, Founder, Plain English Campaign
  • Public Servant of the Year: Andrea Charity, Project Team Member, Crown Prosecution Service
  • Sportswoman or Team of the Year: England Women's Cricket Team
  • Voluntary Sector Achiever of the Year: Clare Algar, Executive Director, Reprieve
  • Outstanding Achiever of the Year: Chrissie Maher OBE, Founder, Plain English Campaign
