The European Women's Lobby participates in the last meeting of the Network.

The Secretary General of the EWL, Cécile Gréboval, participated on the 28th September in the final meeting of the European Network of Women in Decision-making. The EWL, an organisation of which AFAEMME is member, regrets the decision of the European Commission to close this platform for the advancement of equality between women and men.

At the last meeting, discussions included the European Commission future legislative initiative for more equality on Board, which is supported by the majority of the Network members.

The Network also discussed the "leaking pipeline" and difficulties faced by women to reach decision-making positions within enterprises, as well as strategies to overcome them.

This meeting was also an opportunity to present the plans of the EWL for the years 2013-2014 in relation to women in decision-making. In order to prepare for the European elections 2014, the EWL has just started to work on a unique new project of political mentoring at EU level involving current women members of the European Parliament and women with migration experience. The EWL is also working for the revival of its succesful 50/50 Campaign for Democracy.

The EWL regrets that, just as the European Year on Citizenship 2013 is being prepared and legislation on women on boards is debated at EU level, the Commission decided to finish the activities of the European Network of Women in Decision-Making.
