Claudia Goldin wins the Nobel Prize in Economics for her research on the gender labor gap and its effects on income and unemployment.

The Swedish Academy of Economic Sciences has awarded Claudia Goldin the 2023 Nobel Prize in Economics. The award, which since 1968 has rewarded those people who have contributed to the development of some progress in this scientific field, has recognized Goldin for her progress in "our understanding of women's outcomes in the labor market. As announced by the Academy, the awardee - the third woman to win this Nobel - "provided the first complete account of women's income and their participation in the labor market over the centuries. Her research reveals the causes of change, as well as the main sources of the remaining gender gap." Tracing more than 200 years of American history, Claudia Goldin was able to demonstrate the how and why of gender differences in income and employment rates. The wage gap is explained during much of the 20th century by differences in educational and work choices, made at an early age and taking the experience of previous generations as a reference, Goldin maintains.Congratulations!!
