AFAEMME PLANNING MEDAWOMEN 2018

2 & 3 October, 2018

The X MEDA Women Entrepreneurs Forum will be held on 2nd and 3rd October in Amman, Jordan. AFAEMME is working with the Association of Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME), Jordan Forum for Business & Professional Women (JFBPW), the Amman Chamber of Commerce ,and the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce to organize the event. This year's MEDA Week focuses on the role of women in technology and their part in the regional and technological changes currently transforming the Mediterranean. We will address key opportunities and issues for women in technology in the Mediterranean region. AFAEMME president Maria Helena de Felipe met with the ASCAME team on May 10th to prepare the X Edition of MedaWomen Entrepreneurs Forum. #MedaWomen18

AFAEMME'S PRESIDENT ELECTED FOR THE EUROMED FOLLOW UP COMMITTEE AT EESC (European Economic and Social Committee)

On March 15th, AFAEMME's president Maria Helena de Felipe was elected chairwoman of the Euromed Follow-Up Committee, a subcommittee of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC). De Felipe looks forward to collaborating with economic and social partners to improve the Mediterranean area.

INTERNATIONAL FORUM-EXHIBITION "HANDS WOMEN" SUPPORTED BY OUR COLLABORATOR ZURART

3rd & 4th November 2018

Forum-Exhibition "Hands Women", is an exhibition of applied arts, ethnography, a charity auction of folk crafts, celebrity attributes, charity events, fashion shows, photo exhibitions, and concerts with ethnographic collectives. It is a unique platform for the unification of women of various faiths and political views, where the discussion of the most relevant topics is planned. We will be actively promoting the development of small and medium-sized businesses of women entrepreneurs, and successfully integrating advanced economic technologies. The event will be held on 3-4 November in Strasbourg, with the support of cultural initiative "Zur Art".

AFAEMME PARTICIPATED IN THE EUROMED FOLLOW -UP COMMITTEE OF THE EUROPEAN ECONOMIC SOCIAL COMMITTEE (EESC) IN JORDAN

On 26th March, AFAEMME met with a delegation from Jordan Civil Society during the Euro Med Follow-Up Committee. Several organizations participated, including Ms. Taghrid Nefeisi, President of the Jordan Forum of Business & Professional Women (JFBPW). We discussed women's empowerment in the region and as a priority for the Jordanian government.

MEMBERS FROM THE EUROPEAN ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL COMMITTEE (EESC) PARTICIPATE AT FEPIME 3RD CONGRESS CLOSING CEREMONY

Last 4th June members of EESC, Luis Planas, Secretary General of the Economic Committee and Social European (EESC) and since last wednesday Minister of Agriculture, Fishing and Supply in the Spanish current government, Dimitris Dimitriadis, President of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) from 2006-2008, Pietro Francesco de Lotto, Spokesman of the SMEs Category at European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), Milena Angelova, Vice-president of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) participated as speakers in different panels at the Fepime 3rd Congress of Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in Catalonia based in topic “Digitalization, the future of Catalan SMEs”.

AFAEMME MEETS WITH NORWEGIAN GOVERNMENT AND UNION FOR THE MEDITERRANEAN

On 9th May, AFAEMME met with representatives from the Norwegian Government - Minister Counsellor Mrs. Torunn Viste and Senior Adviser Mrs. Julie Jacobsen, and representatives from the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), Deputy Secretary General Mrs. Laurence Païs and Head of the Gender & Women Empowerment Sector Fatiha Hassouni. We discussed the AFAEMME project Young Women as Job Creators, which has been implemented in Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Albania, Spain, and Palestine. We have been working together for many years to promote jobs for young women!

PRESIDENT EUROMED FOLLOW UP COMMITTEE 2018 AT UfM SEMINAR

Last 8th May, AFAEMME'S president, Maria Helena de Felipe, attended , as president of EuroMed Follow-up Committee 2018, the Seminar UfM-UNIMED-ETF, focused on how to strengthen the dialogue between universities and Vocational Centers and entreprises: Sharing experiences and goods practices.

AFAEMME ORGANIZED A WORKSHOP FOR SEAT (SPANISH AUTOMOTIVE COMPANY)

On 15th March, AFAEMME provided a training session on "Diversity Management" for more than 15 senior executives from SEAT, - Spanish Automotive Company-. Beatriz Férnandez-Tubau, as General Secretary, and Marta Maiques, as communication manager of AFAEMME, provided innovative training on ways to increase awareness and integration of diversity at the company.

AFAEMME PARTICIPATED "FEMTALENT FORUM" 2018 IN BARCELONA

On 9th March, AFAEMME attended the "FemTalent Forum" 2018 in Barcelona. This year's event was titled "World Wide Women: Inspiring Global Women Talent", and included women leading international projects on research, industry, and innovation. "FemTalent Forum" also wanted to show the distribution of women in the technology industry. Digital transformation is impacting all sectors of the labor market, and women of all kinds are active participants in this changing market. The FemTalent Forum included diverse women as models to encourage young women's interest in tech professions.

AFAEMME ATTENDS UFM ENERGY PLATFORMS ANNUAL MEETING

AFAEMME's President attended the UfM Energy Platforms annual meeting in Barcelona on January 31st. The event was an opportunity to present the deliverables and the implementation status of the activities included in the Work Program 2017 and to present plans for 2018. The UfM Regional Electricity Market (REM) platform aims for the progressive integration of energy markets in the Mediterranean region and the enhancement of electricity exchanges and interconnections to achieve a secure, affordable and sustainable electricity supply for the benefit of citizens and economies in the Euro-Mediterranean region. The UfM Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (REEE) platform aims to promote renewable energy and energy efficient measures to foster socio-economic development, increased access to secure, affordable, and reliable modern energy services for citizens and businesses of the region, and mitigation and adaptation to climate change in the Euro-Mediterranean region. IESE BUSINESS SCHOOL & AFAEMME ORGANIZED A TRAINING SESSION COURSE TO PROMOTE WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP

IESE Business School & Afaemme renewed the woman business group for a second year to continue advocating for more women in top management positions. Some objectives of the course are to facilitate technologies and tools for women in companies, eliminate gender barries, and exercise successful leadership. AFAEMME PARTICIPATED IN BUSINESS MAKEOVER PROJECT VIENNA

The Business Makeover project is focused on helping entrepreneurs and small SMEs start their own business, grow their business or test the viability of their business. Business Makeover has designed 30 specific tools for business entrepreneurs, available on their website. AFAEMME's communicator manager Marta Maiques participated as an advisory board member at an event for the project in Vienna on January 19th.
