Women Entrepreneurship Day Spain

The first Women Entrepreneurship Day of the UfM labeled project "Young Women as Job Creators" took place last 15th of May in Spain.

Women Entrepreneurship Days are the core activities of the UfM labeled project "Young Women as Job Creators" which will be implemented during 2013 in Jordan, Morocco, Palestine and Spain.

The first Women Entrepreneurship Day (WED) of the project took place last 15th of May at the International University of Catalonia (UIC) in Barcelona (Spain). AFAEMME's President, Mrs. de Felipe, opened the event, together with Mr. Dumancic, expert of the Social and Civil Affairs Division of the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean; Ms. Fernández-Tubau, member of the Managing Board of the Catalan Association of Business and Executive Women (ACEE); Mr. Junceda, Dean of the Law Faculty of the UIC; and Mr. Pellegrino, Coordinator for Professional Training and Professor of Law at the UIC.

The WED was especially addressed to women studying technical and /or scientific degrees with an initial interest in becoming future businesswomen, although men were also very welcomed. Besides from the International University of Catalonia (UIC), there were students from the University of Barcelona (UB), the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), the Politechnical University of Barcelona (UPC), the Open University of Catalonia (UOC), the University of Girona, the University of Lleida, the Rovira i Virgili University and the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), universities which are all members of the Catalan Association of Public Universities (ACUP).

The event has been a great success. After gathering the students' feedback we can confirm that they got highly motivated to start up their own businesses. During the event, they recieved training and coaching for entrepreneurship and they had the occasion to develop their business ideas and to present them in front of other students acting as potential investors.

Those participants who already have a business idea will have free access to the business creation advice services offered by the Catalan Association of Business and Executive Women (ACEE). They will receive support in formulating the Business Plan, in accessing finance and other key issues related to start ups.
