AFAEMME strengthens its position in the European Economic and Social Committee

The President of AFAMME, Mª Helena de Felipe, was elected Spokesperson of the Group of SMEs, Crafts and Family Businesses, of the European Economic and Social Committee (CESE ). With this appointment the representativeness of Spanish SMEs in Europe is reinforced to participation in European decision-making bodies, to defend the interests and needs of SMEs.
Mª Helena de Felipe has extensive experience in representing SMEs in European bodies, where she is also vice-president of the European SMEunited employers' association, SMEunited, and president of the Committee on Legal Affairs of this organization, as well as a representative in the EESC.
 
The President of AFAEMME, points out that "it is a great honor and a challenge to assume this position." In his opinion, “there is no doubt that SMEs are a crucial element of the European business fabric and we will continue to work to strengthen it from this new position at the EESC”.
 
The EESC's group of SMEs, Crafts and Family Businesses has among its objectives the supervision of all aspects related to SME policy, with particular emphasis on the specific needs of crafts and family businesses. The European Economic and Social Committee is an advisory body of the EU. Its opinions are addressed to the European Council, Commission and Parliament and therefore has a key role in the decision-making process of the Union.
