AFAEMME at the Mediterranean Tourism Forum

The role of women in the Mediterranean tourism industry

AFAEMME's President, Ms. de Felipe, participated as a speaker in the VI Mediterranean Tourism Forum,  held in Barcelona on the 27th of November, in the framework of the VIII Mediterranean Week of Economic Leaders.

The major aim of this year's Meditour edition was to allow participants to learn about trends that are shaping the Mediterranean tourism industry and gain specific in-depth knowledge and experience.

Specifically, Ms. de Felipe participated in a round table about the potential for creating a central regional tourism agency which defines standards, collects data and generates forecasts on a consistent basis. There, she had also the opportunity to talk about tourism from a gender perspective by highlighting the chance of women to get empowered through an active role in the tourism sector. A special mention was made of the role of women entrepreneurs in this business sector and of women's acces to economic decision-making in tourism-oriented companies.
