Women in Turkey

Let's challenge the traditional dynamics of wrestling

Today's post from our Turkish trainee is about women and male-dominated sports:

Did you ever meet the first Turkish wrestler who won medals in world championships, Elif Jale Yeşilırmak? She is one of the most successful and assertive sportswoman of Turkey. She attended London Olympics in 2002 and World Championships in Uzbekistan and the United States.

Now, this ambitious woman is preparing for Rio 2016 Olympics by emphasizing that her only aim is to strike gold as the first Turkish woman who achieves it. In her statement, she points out that she owes her great success to her hardwork without giving up. Besides, she believes that she has enough power to even break a record in her field.

As a Turkish woman, I am looking forward to see more female wrestlers to challenge the traditional dynamics in this field!
